Horizons Without Violence is an integrated approach to batterers intervention/education & substance abuse treatment aimed at helping men take responsibility for their behavior and their recovery.
- Evaluation of intimate partner violence, alcohol & other drugs use, and co-occurring mental health disorders
- A minimum 48-week psycho-educational group format for men who have committed intimate partner violence
- Referrals for victims of domestic violence to local support services
- Collateral contact with victims at the victim’s discretion
- Coordination with community health care providers, law enforcement,and the courts
- Education and support to all elements of a community response to end domestic violence
- Individual and group substance abuse counseling
- Connection with sober community support networks
- Initial and ongoing assessment of risk factors for violence/danger to victims
- Abstinence from alcohol & other drugs is a requirement of program participation
